These restrictions follow Trump’s executive order, signed on January 20, titled “Protecting the United States from Foreign Terrorists and Other National Security and Public Safety Threats.”
The order mandates the Secretary of State, Attorney General, Secretary of Homeland Security, and Director of National Intelligence to submit a report within 60 days, identifying countries with inadequate security screening measures. The report will also include data on travelers from these nations who have entered the U.S. since January 20, 2021.
As a result, the 22 countries given a deadline must submit detailed information on their travelers by March 21, or risk further restrictions.
