Before returning to shore, he first claimed that the choppy seas had made him ill and inquired about her well-being. In a different story, he described feeling queasy after getting out of the water. Then he remembered that just before he passed out, he had seen Konanki standing knee-deep in the waves. In a different account, he proposed that she was seen strolling down the shore before fainting. Authorities said there is now very little chance of finding her alive.
